About Me

I was born and raised in North Carolina, so much of the focus of my genealogy research is centered in the South (at least for the time being).

My interest in genealogy developed when I was a teenager after I found out that my mother was raised by "guardians" instead of her own parents. I was intrigued and haven't been able to shake my determination to find out about that part of my family. Admittedly, other aspects of life have kept me from researching on a regular, continuous basis over the years, but I have never given up my determination to continue my research.

After several years of conducting off and on research, I finally got back into the regular swing of things about a year ago. Since that time, I haven't been able to stop searching. It's become an ongoing, regular activity for me and I love it.

I'm happily married to a wonderful man who exhibits great patience with me and my genealogy obsession.

If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at jill@genealogydiaries.com.

I work in the education industry. I also work (part-time) as an independent researcher and writer on various technical and professional writing projects. I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in English.
