Tar Heel Tuesday - Randolph County and The Civil War

The Randolph County Genealogical Society's Spring General Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday, 21 May @ 10am EST. This should be an interesting meeting, as Wally Jarrell will be there to discuss his book "The Randolph Hornets in the Civil War".

According to the invitation I received, Mr. Jarrell will also be discussing some of his more recent research regarding soldiers from Randolph County. He will also (very generously) be sharing information that might help attendees to determine whether one or more of their ancestors served in the Civil War.

I purchased a copy of Mr. Jarrell's book last year and I found it to be an interesting, entertaining read. My 3rd great grandfather, James E. Campbell, is mentioned in the book as one of the soldiers who served in Company M, 22nd North Carolina Regiment (the Randolph Hornets). I was absolutely thrilled to find such a carefully detailed publication about the brave men who fought so valiantly and at great personal cost.
